16.10.2003. - Was elected the chairman of the National Radio and Television Council . Next 4 Years the Council will lead Mr. Imants Rakins.

08.10.2003. - Were elected members ( Una Ulme Sila, Aida Predele, Peteris Bankovskis, Aivars Berkis, Imants Skrastins, Imants Rakins(second term)  of National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

29.09.2003. - The end of the 4 Year term of rights of the National Radio and Television Council's members. 3 later elected members Mr. Olgerts Dzenitis, Mr. Andris Mellakauls and Mrs. Dace Kezbere has rights to stay.

01.11.2001. - By National Radio and Television Council was elected vice chairman of the Council - Ms. Dace Kezbere.

18.10.2001. - Were elected members ( Olgerts Dzenitis(second term),  Dace Kezbere (second term) and Andris Mellakauls) of National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

01.10.2001. - Ltd. "TV Riga" started to broadcast the new TV program TV5-Riga in the 7 th TV channel.

21.06.2001. - Was elected member Ilze Petersone of National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

27.02.2001. - Changes in The Radio and Television Law were adopted by Saeima. and signed by President of the State.

08.02.2001. - Ltd. "TV 3 LATVIA" won competition to get rights to develop the fourth Nationwide terestrial TV distribution network in Latvia.

25.11.2000. - The first Latvian students radio started regular broadcasts. The name of programme is "KNZ" (Kosmosa noslepumu zinataji - The Seavers of Cosmic Secrets)

06.11.2000. - LETA informed: Mr. Andrejs Feldmanis becomes the ownwer of 75% of radio "MIX FM 102,7". The news source for LETA was newspaper "Komersant Baltic". The price of deal should be ~ 400.000 - 600.000 $ wrote the newspaper.

10.10. 2000. -  LETA informed: Ltd. "Grafton Entertainment" - establish of news and Internet TV portal in Baltics "TVNet" becomed the owner of 75% of TV broadcaster Ltd. "TV Riga". Ltd. "Grafton Entertainment" was established by in Dublin, Ireland registered "Grafton Entertainment Corporation Limited".

01.09. 2000. -  LETA informed: from today inhabitants of Lavia have choice to tune TV 3 (version from Latvia) digitaly from satellite. (VIASAT)

25.08.2000. - radio programes audience share in the summer (from  LETA and BMF Gallup Media 25.08.2000.) was: '' The 1-st program of Latvian Radio'' - 21%; Radio SWH - 9%; SWH+ - 5%; '' The 2-nd program of Latvian Radio'' -15%; Radio Bizness Baltija - 9%; Star FM - 5%; Latvian Radio program Doma Laukums - 3%; Radio 100 FM - 5%; Radio Skonto - 4%; Super FM - 5%; Radio MIX FM - 3%; Kristigais Radio - 1%; other programes - 3%; local - 13%. (My comment - somewhare is mistake - 101% )

23.08.2000. - TV programes (cable, satellite, video and terrestrial) audience share (from news agenture LETA and BMF Gallup Media ) in March was: LNT - 27%; LTV1 - 13%; TV 3 - 9%; ORT (Russian public TV) - 9%; LTV 2 - 3%; video recordings - 4%; KTV (RTR Rossija) - 2%; TV Riga - 1%; other - 34%

11.08.2000. -  LETA informed: Estonian "Lehmus Haavel & Viisemann" sold 51% stocks of Estonian TV1 to "Polsat". Other 49% of stocks "Polsat" control through self ownwed Latvian TV channel LNT . "Polsat" owned TV channels in Baltic states have ~8 million potentional viewers.

10.08.2000. - Ltd. "VERNISAZA TV" made agreement with Latvian Radio for renting broadcasting time in Riga's 107,7 MHz from 13.00 to 06.00. National Radio and Television Council allowed not renting.

xx.xx.2000. - AKKA/LAA (the only author rights agency in Latvia) won courts between agency and some radio broadcasters. In result -broadcasters must to make agreements with agency and to pay about 5 to10% from income for music broadcasting. It seems - broadcasters will reduce profit by redirectoring it to other by self established enterprise.

26.06.2000. - radio programes audience share in April (Riga) (from newspaper  "DIENAS BIZNESS" and BMF Gallup Media 26.06.2000.) was: '' The 1-st program of Latvian Radio'' - 16%; Radio SWH - 7%; SWH+ - 9%; '' The 2-nd program of Latvian Radio'' -7%; Radio Bizness Baltija - 18%; Easy FM (Star FM) - 3%; Latvian Radio program Doma Laukums - 3%; Radio 100 FM - 12%; Radio Skonto - 7%; Super FM - 7%; Radio MIX FM - 3%; Kristigais Radio - 2%; other programes - 5%; local - 1%.

20.04.2000. - TV programes (cable, satellite, video and terrestrial) audience share (from news agenture LETA and BMF Gallup Media ) in March was: LNT - 26%; LTV1 - 14%; TV 3 - 8%; ORT (Russian public TV) - 9%; LTV 2 - 4%; video recordings - 3%; KTV (RTR Rossija) - 2%; TV Riga - 1%; other - 33%, but radio programes audience share in March (Riga city) was: '' The 1-st program of Latvian Radio'' - 17%; Radio SWH - 12%; SWH+ - 10%; '' The 2-nd program of Latvian Radio'' -8%; Radio Bizness Baltija - 13%; Easy FM (Maiga Muzika) - 5%; Latvian Radio program Doma Laukums - 4%; Radio 100 FM - 8%; Radio Skonto - 7%; Super FM - 7%; Radio MIX FM - 4%; Ltd. ''Vārds & Co'' - 1%; other - 3%.

19.04.2000.-  LETA informed: radio Easy FM changed the name to Star FM.

21.03.2000. - TV programes (cable, satellite, video and terrestrial) audience share (from news agenture LETA and BMF Gallup Media ) in February was: LNT - 26%; LTV1 - 14%; TV 3 - 8%; ORT (Russian public TV) - 8%; LTV 2 - 5%; video recordings - 3%; KTV (RTR Rossija) - 2%; TV Riga - 1%; other - 33%, but radio programes audience share in February was: '' The 1-st program of Latvian Radio'' - 25%; Radio SWH - 14%; SWH+ - 5%; '' The 2-nd program of Latvian Radio'' -7%; Radio Bizness Baltija - 7%; Easy FM (Maiga Muzika) - 5%; Latvian Radio program Doma Laukums - 5%; Radio 100 FM - 5%; Radio Skonto - 4%; Super FM - 3%; Radio MIX FM - 3%; local programes - 12%; other - 4%.

20.03.2000. - Extraordinary session of the  National Radio and Television Council The guestion was to start or not to start discussions with General director of Latvian TV with the target to end from both sides job agreement. The desicion was not to start.

02.03.2000. -  Media market neto (from newspaper  "DIENAS BIZNESS" and BMF 02.03.2000.) of the 99' was < Ls. 28,1 mil. (< $ 47,6 mil.). Outdor - 5,6%; journals - 7,5%; radio - 15,6%; TV - 29%; newspapers - 39,5% from.  Bigger diference (all - negative 11%) from the saim in 98' :  TV - negative 13%. Radio diference - 0%. TV programes (cable and terrestrial) advertising revenue share in 1999 was: LNT - 64,2%; LTV1 - 18,6%; TV 3 - 6,2%; ORT (Russian public TV) - 8,4%; LTV 2 - 2,7%.

23.02.2000. -  TV programes (cable, satellite, video and terrestrial) audience share (from newspaper  "DIENA" and BMF ) in January was: LNT - 26%; LTV1 - 13%; TV 3 - 8%; ORT (Russian public TV) - 8%; LTV 2 - 4%; video recordings - 3%; KTV (RTR Rossija) - 2%; TV Riga - 1%; other - 35%.

15.02.2000. -  National Radio and Television Council made desicion to stop broadcasts of  Ltd. ''Radio ''Bizness & Baltija'''' in the period of 3 days, starting from 18.02.2000. Reason was broadcasted programs Radio Bizness Baltija discrepancy to the Law and to the programs conception. (foreign language % up 25%( using programs of RUSSKOJE RADIO in russsian language) and hving no recordings of broadcasted program in period 1 month)

15.02.2000. - News agenture LETA informed, than The Transport Ministery's Departament of Communications announced competition to get rights to build magistral (united) cable TV network in Riga.

07.01.2000. - Newspaper DIENAS BIZNESS wrote than strategic investor from Holland invested 10 mil. USD to found in february Baltic Media Holding. s/c ''Latvijas Neatkariga Televizija'' (Latvian Independent TV) bought 49% of Estonian TV 1. Also Polsat bought 51% of Lietuvas Baltijos TV stocks to take part in new holding. The potential TV holding will ttake about 8 mil. potential TV audience.

11.11.99. - Changes (yearly re-registration of broadcasters) in The Radio and Television Law were adopted by Saeima.

14.10.99. - Changes (program, advertising, terms in order of article 81.) in The Radio and Television Law were adopted by Saeima. 

--.10.99. - The State Profitless Ltd. ''Latvian Radio''   (Public radio) wrote investment project to start broadcast in the end of 2005 in digital (DAB) format.

11.10.99. - By National Radio and Television Council was elected vice chairman of the Council - Mr. Baldurs Apinis .

04.10.99. -  The first session of the second team National Radio and Television Council . Was elected chairman - Mr. Ojars Rubenis (second term)

30.09.99. - Were elected members (Ilmars Slapins, Everita Simanovska, Imants Rakins, Ojars Rubenis(second term),  Janis Sikstulis, Dainis Stalts) of National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

27.09.99. - The end of the 4 Year term of rights of the first National Radio and Television Council's members. 3 later elected members Mr. Olgerts Dzenitis, Mr. Baldurs Apinis and Mrs. Dace Kezbere has rights to stay.

20.08.99. - Cabinet of Ministers  isued Rule Nr.280.

02.07.99. - National Radio and Television Council  finished work near the new concept of Electronic Mass Media in Latvia.

04.02.99. - Changes (advertising) in The Radio and Television Law were adopted by Saeima.

26.01.99. - Newspaper "Dienas Bizness" wrote then Modern Times Group (MTG) bought the great part of the radio company  Ltd. ''Radio Rigas Jurmala''

29.10.98. - Changes (article 2 ; article 3/1; article 9; article 17/3; article 18/1/1,2; article 19/5; articles 20,21,22,24,25,26) in The Radio and Television Law were adopted by Saeima.

19.09.98. - The first broadcast of the programme TV 3 (Latvian version of   TV 3 (Modern Times Group (MTG)) in the Riga's 31 TV channel.

14.09.98. - National Radio and Television Council gave responsibilities of the general director of the Latvian Television to Mr. Rolands Tjarve.

xx.08.98 - The State Profitless Ltd. ''Latvian Radio''    (Public radio)  started to use satellite service for signal distribution (feeds).

23.07.98. - National Radio and Television Council ended job agreement with general director of Latvian Television Mr. Olafs Pulks. One of the main reasons - decision of audit firm Coopers & Lybrandt about financial balance of Latvian TV. Responsibilities of director for change period before new competition  were given to Mr. Ansis Berzins.

05.06.98. - Modern Times Group (MTG) bought 49% of  Ltd. "31. KANALS"  (Riga 31 TV ch.) stocks to build up TV 3 (Sweden, Kinnevik group) support channel in Latvia

22.05.98. - Ltd. "Radio Zemgale" (Iecavas Radio) restarted to broadcast from Iecava FM 101,0 MHz; 0,2 kW

18.05.98. - Radio SWH started to install new computerised broadcasting studio from RCS. 3 servers for 2 programs and still develop network.

14.05.98. - European Convention On Transfrontier Television was adopted by Saeima.

30.04.98. - Thematic discussion "The development of National radio distribution networks in Latvia" organised by  Reklamas Klubs (Advertising Club). 20.04.98. - National Radio and Television Council estimated finance'97 of the Latvian Television and realising of The National Subscription.

08.04.98. - Radio SWH program on FM is possible to tune in Ventspils. Locations of all transmitters - Riga, Talsi, Ventspils.

20.03.98. - s/c ''Latvijas Neatkariga Televizija'' (Latvian Independent TV)  started to use ENEX (European News Exchange) service and mobile satellite station.

25.09.97. - Were elected members (Dace Kezbere, Baldurs Apinis, Olgerts Dzenitis) of National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

21.07.97. - Was accepted The Concept of Cable TV Networks by The Transport Ministry.

26.06.97. - Mr. Raimonds Kreicbergs won rights in competition to take Retransmission Permit to retransmit radio program by using Riga's AM 576 kHz 500KW transmitter. His concept was to retransmit Country Music Radio program.

05.06.97. - Changes in The Civil Process Codex of Latvia. (penalties for unlicensed broadcasting e.t.c.) by Saeima.

17.04.97. - Changes (article 15 / 10; 33 / 10) in The Radio and Television Law were adopted by Saeima.

14.10.96. - Ltd. ''Kurzemes Radio'' won rights in competition to take Broadcasting Permit to broadcast radio program by using Radio Regional Distribution Net.

12.09.96. - Was elected 1 member (Ansis Epners) of National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

29.08.96. - Ltd. "World News Agency" won rights in competition to take Broadcasting Permit to broadcast TV program by using Riga's 31 UHF TV channel..

29.08.96. - The competition for taking Broadcasting Permit to distribute TV program  in Riga's 7 TV channel finished without winner. In result the using of Riga's 7 TV channel stooped 31.12.96.

17.06.96. - s/c "Radio SWH" ; Ltd. ''Radio ''Bizness & Baltija''' and  Ltd. Production Commercfirm ''Pikal un Partneri'' won rights in competition to take Broadcasting Permits to broadcast radio programs by using Riga's FM transmitters.

10.06.96. - s/c "Radio SWH" and Ltd. ''Radio Rigas Jurmala'' won rights in competition to take Broadcasting Permits to broadcast radio programs by using Latvia's FM transmitters (to build and use 2 Radio National distribution nets).

29.07.96. - Was accepted The Rule of Sound and Television broadcasting in Cable Networks by The Communication Department of The Latvian Ministry of Transport.

25.04.96. - s/c ''Latvijas Neatkariga Televizija''  won rights in competition to take Broadcasting Permit to broadcast TV program by using Latvia's 3 TV Distribution Network.

14.03.96. - Was elected the second team of members for National Radio and Television Council by Saeima.

29.01.96. - Was accepted the National Conception of the Development of Electronic Mass Media by National Radio and Television Council.

28.09.95. - Was elected the first National Radio and Television Council (9 members) by Saeima.
