| The
family support groups, conducted by trained facilitators
provide psychological education and emotional support to
individuals and families in the rural areas of Latvia. Participation in the support groups is free of charge and is open anyone, regardless of age, gender or nationality. The support groups meet bi-monthly for two hour sessions from September to June. After completion of nine months of support group work with the facilitators, each group is encouraged to function as an independent support unit within its own area. Independent support groups may join the Latvian Support Group Association and take part in all of its activities. |
